Activity #1: In small groups: Food item envelopes Sort them then explain how/why. Today we will have a fashion show to practice our clothing vocabulary. Here is an example of the script: “Katie is wearing a green blouse from Belk’s. This cotton blouse is soft and refreshing. She is wearing a black skirt from Kohl's. This wool skirt is warm. Her black shoes from Macy's are comfortable, but elegant."

Warm-up: What did you do yesterday? Ex I didn’t go to work, so I made crepes and ran. Go over each cartoon about budgets and saving money. Work in groups of 3 to discuss Dan’s Big Date. Introduction to clothing: Look at the graphic. Ads: Each group gets a flyer to buy an outfit. Cut out a full outfit and write the prices for each item. What did you buy (adj-noun) Was it on sale? How much was it? How many did you buy? What was the total?
Counting Money: We each get a handful of coins. Using these, we counted them, learned the value of each, learned words like coin, bill, half dollar, cents, penny, etc. Students Money Math: We used these situations to talk about "change" and different ways to pay bills. What can you pay with credit or debit card? What can you pay with a check? What do you pay with cash? We have to run some errands. Pick up some fruit. It was $3.27. I paid $4 and got ____ change. After we learned the fall and pumpkin vocabulary, we worked in groups to tell the meaning of pictures we saw. Here is what we wrote: 1) The old man is thinking about about a Jack-o-lantern. He cuts the pumpkin. He takes the top off. He cuts inside the pumpkin. He removes the seeds. He makes the eyes. He makes the mouth. The man lights the candle. The candlelight is shining. He puts the wax inside. He puts the candle in the wax. He wants to close the pumpkin. He puts the pumpkin in the window. He cleans and puts the trash in the garbage. 2)The man is thinking how to make the face of the pumpkin. First, he cuts the top of the pumpkin. After, he removes the top. He cuts the pulp. Then he removes the pulp and seeds. He makes the eyes. Then he makes the mouth. Now he is lighting the candle. The candlelight is shining. He is putting the wax inside the pumpkin. Now he is putting (sticking) the candle in the wax. He wants to close the pumpkin. He puts the pumpkin in the window. He cleans up the trash. 3)The man thinks about a Jack-o-lantern. He cuts the top. He takes off the top. He cuts the seeds and pulp. He takes out the seeds and pulp. He cuts the eyes. He cuts the mouth. He lights the candle. The candle is shining and drips wax.
