There is a monkey epidemic in Hong Kong. The monkeys take the women’s food. 700 hundred monkeys live in Hong Kong and come into the city for food and beer. They take groceries from old women. They take bread from babies. They take fruit from apartments. They even drink beer. They are drunk monkeys. The people don’t want the monkeys in the city. Nobody knows how to stop the monkeys. (from returning/from coming)

We read The Cheap Apartment Easy True Stories p. 79 and wrote the story based on the pictures.
Jean Herman lives in an apartment in New York City. The apartment is small, but she likes it. The building is old. One day a company buys the building. They want to build a sky scraper so they have to tear down this building. They offered her a check for a lot of money, but she doesn’t move. They offered more money, but she doesn’t take the check. She is not going to move. The company constructs the skyscraper behind the old apartment. Now the skyscraper has an old building in front of it. Jean Herman still lives in the old apartment in front of the skyscraper. She still pays $200 per month for rent.
Then we listened to monologues about good apartments. http://www.esl-lab.com/live/liverd1.htm#pre (click on video on the bottom)
